Description
- Mosquitoes and sandflies belong to a large and abundant group of hematophagous flying insects (order Diptera).
- Sandflies are small mosquito-like insects. They are the only direct source of Leishmania infection in dogs and humans. The main species in Europe belongs to the genus Phlebotomus.
- Mosquitoes are present throughout temperate and tropical regions of the world and are important vectors of human and animal diseases.
