What is the life cycle of Cheyletiella mites ?
The life cycle typically takes 3-4 weeks. Infestation of hosts occurs by direct contact among animals or through the environment. The parasites develop in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. The pre-larval and larval stages last around 7-8 days then moult into Nymphs I and II. After a further 9-10 days, these become adults. Females lay eggs one by one on the host coat, where they stay attached until they hatch after around 4 days.
